Rotary Club

Rotary is an organization of business and professional women and men, united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Every year, each Rotary Club and Rotary International, elects a new Executive, to continually improve and refresh the opportunity for service in our communities. Our Rotary International (RI) President embraces a new theme to exemplify service in our communities. For 2011-2012, RI President Kalyan Banerjee asked us to "Reach within to embrace humanity. He said "When we reach within ourselves and our clubs, when we learn what we are capable of, and harness that power, we will elevate our communities as never before - and elevate Rotary as well." The members of Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak have given over 15 years of service to our communities. Our members come from both genders, all occupations, religions, races, creeds and political preferences. We are an apolitical organization, that provides service to our Club, our Community and Internationally. "What Rotarians get out of Rotary depends on what you put into Rotary." Rotary Daybreak's primary focus is on benefitting children. Some of our programmes: "Golf for Nanaimo Youth" tournament supports Nanaimo Youth Services, Central Vancouver Island Boys & Girls Club and Nanaimo Child Development Centre, "Grey Cup Party" with funds supporting the Nanaimo Schools Foundation, "Texas Hold'em Poker" Tournament to support Mid Island Ability Society, Internationally, we support schools and an orphanage in Sunyani Ghana, "Prevent Alcohol & Related Youth Trauma" (PARTY) education programmes at Nanaimo Regional Hospital, and, 'Swing into Spring' fundraiser recognizing musical talent at Vancouver Island University.
