Demeter Fragrance Library was conceived in the East Village of New York City in 1996, with a unique and expanding perspective on wearable fragrance. The original mission was to capture the beautiful smells of nature and the garden in wearable form. Today, with fragrances from Baby Powder and Pure Soap to Gin & Tonic, Play Doh, Vanilla Cake Batter and Pizza, we have radically expanded our olfactory goals and geographic reach. Today, our mission is much bolder: To make great fragrance available every day, because every time you smell something you love, you smile, and the world always needs more smiles. And our reach is quite different: not just from the East Village in New York, but from Beijing to Moscow, and from London to Seoul, you can find Demeter changing the way people think about, and use, scent. In fact, the Demeter name was inspired by the original mission, and adapted from the Greek Goddess of Agriculture.
