Denver Percussion was founded in 2005 to supply professional percussion instruments to music organizations in Colorado. ince that time, instruments have been rented to orchestras and other music groups in California, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. number of professional orchestras have rented from Denver Percussion including the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, Colorado Music Festival, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Fort Collins Symphony, Grand Teton Music Festival, and the Utah Symphony. ecause of the rarity of classical instrument rentals, Denver Percussion has also supplied instruments for many other performing groups including ABBA Tribute Band, The Beach Boys, and The Black Eyed Peas. In 2014 Denver Percussion expanded its business to provide educational rentals as well as full retail. The company now sells online through its webstore (www.iwantdrums.com). In 2017, Denver Percussion moved into a new warehouse with enough space to provide group instruction and ensembles. Denver Percussion founder, Peter Hellyer, has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Denver and a Master's of Music from Temple University. ete has studied with renowned percussionists Alan Abel, John Kinzie, Tom Stubbs, and Doug Howard. s a performer, Pete has worked with a number of orchestras and ensembles including the Aspen Music Festival, Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Fort Collins Symphony, and Grand Teton Music Festival. ete and his wife, Hiroko, are the resident percussionists for the world famous Summit Brass.
