Devenish Partnership Forum
Devenish Partnership Forum was established in 1994 as an umbrella body for four local Community Associations in response to an identified need to combat high levels of deprivation within the four estates (Cornagrade, Hillview, Kilmacormick I and Kilmacormick II). The main aim of the Forum is to add value to the whole community through coordination, communication, capacity building and integration. We engage the community in a range of activities: Health activities for senior citizens and residents of the Neighbourhood Renewal (NR) area i.e. walking, swimming, tai chi, fit and fun, weight management, cancer awareness Homework club- daily homework assistance, activities, trips (in line with the curriculum) Nature Reserve (local environmental area - application for environmental improvements under review with aim of getting Nature Reserve Status in the future) Allotment maintenance Support for the community in accessing benefits and raising local issues We provide a meeting place for teenagers to meet on a Monday to Thursday. This is supervised by a number of youth leaders for the Positive Peers, and it enables the young people to meet in a safe environment. At TeenScene, the young people watch dvds, listen to music and generally hang out. They also engage in personal development programmes and get away on trips.
