Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency on Aging & Disabilities

The Direction Home Akron Canton Foundation was created with the mission of enabling older adults not eligible for government assistance to remain independent and secure at home through access to a variety of supportive services. The Foundation was developed in 1999 to help these older adults achieve their long-term care goals through the Care Coordination program. 73 out of 88 counties in Ohio have Senior Service Levies to aid in expanding services to older adults. Of the four counties Direction Home Akron Canton serves (Portage, Stark, Summit, and Wayne), none of them benefit from the funding of a Senior Service Levy. A large percentage of the Foundation's funds go directly towards the advocacy efforts of influencing public policy pertaining to older adults and their well-being, including Senior Service Levy efforts.
