The effort of bringing to life of worlds that could only previously be imagined from the sci-fi and fantasy genres has been supreme. There are so many stories to tell from these determinations. We are influenced by some outstanding motion media nowadays and since the early 70's, that has been enhanced by special and visual effects. This was most notably advanced by the advent of work done by Industrial Light and Magic on the first Star Wars movie, which massively caught my attention as a nine year old boy. The resulting entertainment left its mark and I wanted more. I became increasingly enchanted with the values of production. "How did they do that? was one frequent question and another was "How were they inspired to do that?". Of course all of these concepts had to be started with illustrations, sketches, story boarding and production paintings. I tried to replicate these in my youth, but my artwork wasn't up to much! So I garnered a collection of art books that highlighted the best of sci-fi illustration both from book covers and motion pictures. Remember the "Terran Trade Authority" series of books by Stewart Cowley or Carol Titleman's "The Art of Star Wars"? Then in the 90s came the advent of more powerful computers and with it applications that allowed for 3D digital artwork. These allowed many others and I to harness the power to be our own producers of imagined worlds. We could be the Lucases and Spielbergs. We could illustrate the future, despite a lack of traditional artistic training. Now there are many of us who have had similar influences to mine with creative stories to tell. My mission is to help you express these through our live webinars, monthly magazine and podcast. We want to help you progress on your creative path and have fun in the process.
