District 148 offers a continuum of special education services to children with disabilities consistent with state and federal mandates. In order to ensure all children with disabilities in District 148 have available to them a free and appropriate public education, Support Programs promotes leadership, advocacy and collaboration among parents, educators, students and other support personnel. In order to provide optimum learning experiences to meet the specialized needs of every child, we provide a variety of quality, research-based programs using high rates of positive prompts and instruction. Since our belief is success for all our students, we encourage meaningful collaboration between regular education teachers and special education teachers in building effective, data-driven programs. These provide our students access to knowledge and self-confidence thereby enhancing their lives as they grow into responsible citizens. We work as catalysts to promote and provide best practices because it is our belief that when students are provided the opportunities and given the instruction that embraces their strengths, they can learn. Support Programs champions highly- qualified staff, quality education, and the fostering of teamwork with all of the stakeholders, most importantly parents, in order to maximize learning potential as our students strive for excellence.
