Congregation Dor Hadash
We affirm our sense of being Jewish through our shared past, and through communal worship, study, and celebration. We are egalitarian and inclusive. We address the needs of a wide diversity of Jewish members and interfaith family members. We are committed to providing a Jewish education for ourselves and for our children. This role is fundamental to a successful Jewish life in contemporary American society. We are a participatory congregation. To strengthen a sense of community, we encourage involvement in democratic governance through study and valuesbased decision making. We take pride in the extent to which our members volunteer to work for the wellbeing of the Dor Hadash community. We engage in the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam (repairing the world) to improve the lives of others, the environment, and the world around us. In our spiritual search many of us see our texts and traditions as a record of human endeavor, sacred but not supernatural in origin. Many Reconstructionists view God as the power within us that encourages selffulfillment and ethical behavior, the spiritual energy that works through nature and human beings, and the inspiration for all that gives meaning to life. As Reconstructionists we are committed to building on Jewish traditions to enhance our lives as contemporary American Jews.
