DOUCETTE'S BOAT BUILDING
Doucette's Boat Building is a family-owned and operated business run by Jimmie Doucette, with help from his two sons Mark and Andy. The company was started in 1990 by Jimmie who already had many years of experience at sea, and in the boat building industry. In the company's early years, business for Doucette's consisted mostly of major repairs, refits and restorations to many different types of boats - in wood and fiberglass. The first new boats built by the company were of wood and wood-epoxy construction. After years of building wood boats and undertaking many major boat repairs and refits, the company felt they had perfected their wood boat designs, and they set out to build what they believe to be their best and last wooden boat. This boat was to be used as a plug to build moulds for their future fiberglass designs. A lot of time was spent planning the construction of the new fiberglass design which is known today as the Doucette 45. The hull features a Northumberland Strait-style design which has proven itself as a leader in the commercial fishing industry in the rough seas off Eastern Canada's rugged coastline. After building 40 commercial fishing boats from these new moulds, and earning a reputation for excellent workmanship with a keen eye for detail, and quality customer service, the Doucette family started planning to adapt their proven commercial design for the pleasure boat market. This meant a completely new design for the topsides, which would have to be practical, spacious, and suit the boat's unique Northumberland-style hull lines. In developing the pleasure boat design, the family's expertise in knowing what works and what doesn't was key. Nothing was done to sacrifice the hull's proven performance at sea. Once the topside design had been finalized, the Doucette's began designing a luxury yacht interior - which they believe can compete with any yacht in its class today. Doucette's Boat Building offers one hull 45ft long design: The Doucette 45. It can be finished as a simple lobster boat, sport fisherman, or as a luxury trawler yacht. The company offers a custom interior to meet all their customers' needs and dreams.
