In 1975 Driftwood Shores Resort was introduced to Florence and the Oregon Coast in a newspaper ad as Surfside Inn Condominiums. 88 fully furnished beach front accommodations featuring one, two and three bedroom units, including all appliances for the suites with kitchens. Best of all the facility was and is ocean view with only a sandy beach between the rooms and the ocean. In 1977 Surfside Inn Condominiums owners met and decided to open their doors to the public as a full service hotel Driftwood Shores Resort and share the unforgettable beauty of the Pacific Ocean. Word spread quickly about the only oceanfront property in Florence on the Central Oregon Coast. 1985, the year the original restaurant burned down at Driftwood Shores. It was located where the offices are now housed. In 1986, Surfside Restaurant and Lounge opened its doors in its new and current location. The Surfside Restaurant and Lounge has become a popular stop for diners that want to experience the award winning Pacific Northwest Cuisine menu plus the view of the Pacific Ocean. In 2009, the new indoor aquatic center was completed. The new facility was built where the old pool had been located. The facility features a swimming pool, kiddies' pool, whirlpool tub plus splash toys for kids of all ages. In 2014 Driftwood Shores Resort was chosen as "best beach lodging " by popular vote during the "Readers Choice Award" selection in Lane County. That brings us to 2015.
