Dubai World is a holding company that manages some 90 entities owned by the oil-rich government of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Its portfolio expands beyond the Middle East, with holdings across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Dubai World focuses on the strategic growth areas of Transport and Logistics, Drydocks and Maritime, Urban Development, and Investment and Financial Services. Its portfolio contains some of the worlds leading companies in their industries, including Drydocks World, Economic Zones World, Istithmar World and majority ownership of DP World. It has embarked on a process to streamline the Group and its core activities. It is committed to investment in the long term and generating value for its shareholder, the Government of Dubai. Dubai World was created by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.
