DUMAC develops direct actions that benefit migratory and resident waterfowl habitats. Conservation and Restoration: DUMAC develops Conservation Projects, which try to achieve legal protection for habitats that don't have it and maintains those that are protected; Restoration Projects, in order to reestablish the values and functions of deteriorating wetlands; Mini-Habitat Projects, to protect bodies of water, helping to generate plant cover that benefits the waterfowl; and Inventory and Classification of Wetlands Projects, conducted to produce valuable information in order to make decisions regarding wetlands. In this important area, DUMAC develops research projects mainly about habitat, migratory waterfowl, and resident waterfowl. However, we also perform others, outside of this scope, thay are important to completing our mission. Education: DUMAC has diverse programs with the goal of encouraging sensitivity and developing knowledge on how to take care of and have respect for natural resources. In these educational programs there are: Training for Professionals and Technicians of Natural Protected Areas through the Training Course (RESERVA); Environmental Education, directed towards extensive sectors of society, particularly children and teenagers; Cultural Diffusion of wetlands values for social sensitization and participation; and Public Involvement with communities connected to the use and importance of wetlands and the species that depend on them. Fundraising: DUMAC is a non-profit association that, in order to fulfill its mission, receives important donations from foundations, businesses, and individual donors of Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Additionally, DUMAC has a Membership Program designed to keep members updated, motivating their participation in the work DUMAC performs in Mexico.
