Educational Partnership High School is an alternative education high school specializing in independent study. Its existence is the result of a cooperative effort between Ultimate Resources, Inc., and the Long Beach Unified School District. If you have left or are considering leaving high school before graduation, Educational Partnership High School (EPHS) is an alternative for you. You can enroll in EPHS if you are between 14 and 18 years old. To remain in the program, you must meet the expected grade and attendance requirements. If you are starting EPHS as an 18-year-old, you must have been continuously enrolled in school, and if necessary, you may continue until age 21. EPHS allows students to stretch their high school education over more than a four-year period of time. EPHS offers a number of learning activities, which you complete at home each week. These learning activities are intended to improve reading, writing, computing, and critical thinking -- important skills you need to be successful in life. Participation in EPHS is voluntary and you have the option to apply for a transfer to a Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) comprehensive high school at the beginning of each semester. You, your parent or guardian, and your EPHS teacher form a close partnership to ensure your success. Your teacher designs an individualized program based on LBUSD graduation requirements and your own unique needs. You may choose to earn sufficient credits to return to a traditional high school, or you may decide to graduate from EPHS. Your teacher will help you decide which option is better. In order to receive a high school diploma from EPHS, you must earn 220 credits, complete 40 hours of Service Learning, and pass both portions of the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE). EPHS courses meet high school graduation requirements, but will not qualify you for direct admission to a four-year university. After graduating from EPHS, you may enroll at a community college and pursue your college education, including future transfer to a four-year university. Many EPHS graduates have gone on to attend community college and transferred to four-year universities.
