Egger Steel operates several different computer information processing systems including IBM RS6000, IBM S34, and PC based systems. Compliance levels have been determined for all utilized computer hardware and software. We are on target to remediate all applications by mid 1999. Similarly, embedded systems are found in the following areas: Shop equipment Facilities, including items such as HVACs, Telecommunications systems, including data transmission, Fax EDI, telephony, etc. We are on target to remediate the majority of embedded components by the end of 1998 and to devote 1999 to remediating lower priority items, to fine tuning and re-testing, and to contingency planning. Our low degree of automation, and nature of existing systems with embedded technology, create a minimal or non-existent issue with Y2K compliance. The Year 2000 Program is a top business priority for Egger Steel, and we have established an appropriate schedule and high project standards.
