Environmental Mechanical Contractors

A strong commitment to craftsmanship has been the sustaining theme of Environmental Mechanical since 1945, when it was then named Troug-Nichols. The company, headquartered in Olathe, Kansas, has been creating outstanding results in the design, construction, fabrication, and installation of mechanical systems throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area for over fifty years. Throughout the late '60s, the firm experienced tremendous growth working on such high profile projects as The Plaza, Hall's Department Store, Harzfeld's, and the Alameda Plaza Hotel. They provided total energy plants for Georgetown and Fox Run that included electrical and HVAC using gas turbines for the entire complex. In 1955, Vince LoScalzo joined the company. Eventually he purchased the company and renamed it Environmental Mechanical. Thomas J. LoScalzo's career at Environmental Mechanical began under his father Vince LoScalzo. Tom joined Environmental Mechanical in 1983 as a mechanical engineer and was named President in 1992. Before Environmental Mechanical, he was with a large mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultant for nearly four years. As a licensed engineer in Kansas and Missouri, he also lends his supervision and direction to design, estimating, and construction management. Today, Environmental Mechanical has tripled its office and field technician's staff. Clients rely on the team efforts of Environmental Mechanical to complete projects on time, to perfection, and within budget constraints. The company is always willing to take-on challenging projects and regularly goes the extra mile for clients. Environmental Mechanical will design, install, fine-tune, and service mechanical and HVAC systems for various types of projects including a small computer room to coordinating corporate offices to production capabilities for multi-million dollar facilities. Environmental Mechanical has also been a standard-bearer for community involvement in the Greater Kansas City area. From participating in United Way fund drives and assisting in youth sports programs to signing on as a corporate partner for Olathe district schools, the company encourages hands-on volunteer work from its employees. An annual contribution to the community from EMC is work for The Habitat for Humanity in Kansas City's urban core. Environmental Mechanical is also an active promoter of Kansas City's not-for-profit organizations as members of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Overland Park Chamber of Commerce, Olathe Chamber of Commerce and Kansas City Kansas Chamber of Commerce. EMC's other memberships include the following: The Kansas City Chapter of Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning National Association, Inc. (SMACNA-KC), Mechanical Contractors Association of KC (MCA-KC), Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA), National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB), and American Society of Heating, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Engineers (ASHARAE). Company executives like to point out their proud heritage and speak glowingly of the future of this community. At Environmental Mechanical, quality and pride stand side-by-side.
