Evergreen Karate

At Evergreen Karate, we teach Classical Okinawan Karate and now offer Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Our Mission: Is to Educate, Encourage, and Empower Families in the Northshore school district to live happier and healthier lives. We build strong bodies and strong minds one student at a time. Along with learning karate, students will learn new things about themselves. They learn self confidence, discipline, honor and self defense by studying Shudokan karate-do and Gracie Jiu Jitsu, and we have a blast doing it. Our Focus: is the "Do" in karate-DO (pronounced "Doe"), which is the way to live, think, and act. These morals help to build a strong community. As we grow and practice together hopefully we can follow Gandhi's advice when he said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Among other things, students will learn to set and achieve goals. The self confidence and focus that karate ka (karate students) develop allow them to excel in academics. In order to achieve the black belt rank in our dojo, you must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Evergreen Karate as a "Life Skills School" is owned and operated by George Ahearn. He is committed to being a positive influence on young minds. Our philosophy is that we recognize we are teaching future business leaders, employees, and civil servants. We are often asked by our students to write letters of recommendation for scholarships, Boy Scouts, and for an individual's first employment opportunity. Happily we accept this responsibility because we know we have been witness to each individuals growth, and can attest without reservation to one's character and countenance. Sensei George has been an active member of the community and is the sole owner of Evergreen Karate and Jiu Jitsu. He has over fourteen years experience in karate, holds the rank of Sandan, or third degree black belt, and earned his Graduate studies from the University of Washington for Executive Masters in Health Care Administration in 2005.
