The EWB IT Team is planning to do some preventative maintenance on our primary server (located in Waterloo) on Friday, October 13th. We expect that all IT systems (email, myEWB, websites) will be down for most of the morning on that day, but that everything will be back and better than ever by Friday night at the very latest. No inbound email will be lost during this period, but no one will be able to use our outbound (SMTP) server. What we're doing (and what it means to our users): upgrading the operating system to the latest version (we'll have more features available, fewer bugs, and maybe a performance boost!) swapping out one of the RAID hard drives (we'll be less likely to lose our data to a mechanical hard drive failure) adding RAM (myEWB will be much faster, and slow down the whole system less) running some tests which are too dangerous to run remotely (it'll prevent random downtime, and make us better able to recover if/when it does happen) We would much rather do this at 2AM on a Saturday, but it's not possible for us to gain physical access to the server outside of business hours, so we apologize for any inconvenience ahead of time.
