Business Education Council of Niagara
Business Education Council of Niagara (BEC) has a long history of service to the community of Niagara. Formed in 1987 as the Niagara Peninsula Industry Education Council, we are a non-profit corporation that initiates active communication and partnership between business, education, government and community organizations to address challenges in Niagara. The Council itself was created through the efforts of the four school boards that existed in Niagara at that time. Namely the Lincoln County Board of Education, Niagara South Board of Education, Welland County Roman Catholic Separate School Board and the Lincoln County Separate School Board. The name of the corporation was officially changed to Business Education Council of Niagara in 1997 to properly reflect an expanded mandate for the Council. In addition to continuing our traditional relationship with Niagara's school systems; we now provide employment support services for Niagara's unemployed, operate BEC Internet Services and provide the infrastructure support for a variety of community projects. BEC envisions a Niagara where everyone has access to opportunities for rewarding careers, lifelong learning and skills development and an enriched quality of life. A commitment to integrity, innovation, accountability, quality and leadership are what lead BEC in an ongoing pursuit of a better Niagara.
