Faith Bible Chapel

We are a family of faith with a single purpose; we want to honor God. In the mid 1960's, several families gathered together for a Bible study under the leadership of Robert Hooley. With a strong desire to learn of God's Word and His ways, the group soon outgrew the home where they were meeting and moved to a small church building in Arvada. Approximately two years later in 1969, the young Faith Bible Chapel family again found itself in need of larger facilities. A building was obtained at 9th and Acoma in Denver. It was here that God began to move in miraculous ways and added to the church daily. By 1977 the church had grown to approximately 800 in average attendance - with no place to expand. The church leadership prayed and found itself, once again, deciding to move. A ten-acre property was purchased in Arvada at 62nd and Ward Road. Construction started on a 66,000 square foot building consisting of a sanctuary seating approximately 1100, a small gym, and an education wing. The church moved into its new facilities in March of 1979. God continued to move in marvelous ways during the 1980's. An additional 20 acres was purchased in 1983 to handle the projected growth. Not long after that, the second, third, fourth, and fifth phases of construction projects were needed to handle the continued growth. Faith Christian Academy was born in 1988 as a school for kindergarten through 12th grade, and now enrolls over 1,000 students. In addition, the Sonshine Center, a daycare and pre-school, was established in 1994 as an outreach ministry. Over the years several other churches have been started in the Denver metro area, and nationally as a result of our growth and outreach. In 1996, as Isaiah 54 says, "we lengthened our cords and enlarged the place of our habitation. By purchasing another campus and building, located approximately five miles from the existing campus and continuing with our vision to reach our community for Christ, we became one church meeting in two locations. All together FBC is currently ministering to over 5000 people locally and has a mission outreach supporting over 40 different ministries here in the United States and around the world. In June of 2001, construction began for a new Family Worship Center to seat 2700 people. This would enable the church to grow and make a place where the five services on two campuses could come back together. It was dedicated in September of 2002. Pastor George Morrison and his wife, Cheryl, have been blessed to be a part of this ministry since 1971, when Pastor George gave his heart to Christ. He and Cheryl met in this church and they were married in 1972. They have served in various ministries over the years including: the prison ministry; the tape ministry; the children, youth and adult ministries; and wherever else they felt God would have them serve. They were house parents for over four years to 32 young people in our youth outreach home. Pastor George served as associate pastor and then assumed the senior pastor responsibilities in 1984 after the founding pastor resigned. They count it a privilege to have experienced God's grace personally and in their family and ministry. Our God is a great God and His love reaches out to all who are lost.
