Farrah's

Farrah's

Farrah's was established in 1840 by John Farrah. The Original Harrogate Toffee was designed to clear the palate of the putrid taste of Harrogate's Sulphur Water, famous in the 19th century for it's healing properties. Original Harrogate Toffee is similar to both a Butterscotch and Barley Sugar. We use three different types of sugar, proper butter and a hint of lemon to give a unique texture and flavour. It is still made in copper pans and packaged in Blue and Silver Embossed Tins as it has been for generations, making it a memorable gift for any occasion. Since the retirement of John Farrah in the early 1900's Farrah's was owned by the Armitage family and latterly the Waddington family before being brought back from the brink of closure in 1997 by father and son Gary and Peter Marston. HRH The Queen visited Farrah's Toffee factory in 1998, commenting how the family had enjoyed Harrogate Toffee for years. Farrah's now have over 750 customers including Selfridges and John Lewis. Harrogate Toffee is sold in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and a number of countries in Europe. As well as the Harrogate Toffee, Farrah's range of products includes, Fudges, Nougat, Biscuits and Preserves. The trade catalogue has over 250 different products, many available with customers own designs.
