Farrington High School
Farrington's Hana Like Program is an AmeriCorps program that reflects a shared vision that provides a positive focal point for Kalihi schools and agencies, including: a greater engagement of youth in volunteering in health, literacy and human/social services career pathway areas aligned with academic curricula; an increase in the quantity and quality of community service opportunities in these career pathway areas; and an increase in the number of community agencies, organizations and schools providing opportunities for volunteerism in the career pathway areas. The Hana Like Program, funded by a Hawaii National and Community Services grant, will enable AmeriCorps youth members to explore careers in health, education, environmental and human/social services while fulfilling their academic requirements contributing to community organizations through community service learning. Fifteen AmeriCorps participants will complete 450 hours of community-services learning activities in health and social services areas over a three-month period.
