Fiberline

Fiberline was founded in 1979. Dorthe and Henrik Thorning were the management, and there were two employees in the factory at their rented premises. On 1 May, they started the first pultrusion line, and this date has since been considered the company anniversary. In 1987, Fiberline assumed ownership of the buildings, while other rented premises have been purchased as the need for new space arose. In 1992, the newly renovated manufacturing facility was inaugurated. In 1995, Fiberline became ISO 9001 certified. Later the same year, Fiberline published the first edition of the Fiberline Design Manual. The need for more production capacity increased steadily, and in the spring of 1997 the manufacturing facility in Middelfart became a reality. The year 1997 was another milestone in Fiberline history, with the opening of the Fiberline bridge in Kolding, Denmark, the first composite bridge in Scandinavia. This event placed Fiberline prominently on the map and received international attention. Since then there have been more bridges and buildings such as the Pontresina bridge and the Eyecatcher building in Switzerland. The most recent addition to the list is the bridge across the high-speed railway line between Madrid and Barcelona that was built in the autumn of 2001. The most recent additions to the list are the bridge across the high-speed railway line between Madrid and Barcelona built in the autumn of 2001 and the first European high-way bridge which was opened in Oxfordshire, UK in October 2002. Recently, we received the award "Initiative Prize 2002" from the Confederation of Danish Industries. Fiberline has been awarded a number of prizes and distinctions. Among others, The Application of the Year 1997 by the German Reinforced Plastics Association (AVK) for the Fiberline bridge in Kolding, Denmark; the UNIDENMARK Initiative Award 1998; the Product Award 1998 by the Confederation of Danish Industries; and the 1998 Jubilee Prize of the Association of Industrial Development Executives in Denmark; and the 1999 Company of the Year by the Kolding Industrial Development Council. In 1999, Fiberline was also awarded the Green Network environmental diploma for good environmental policies. These policies are expressed primarily in the Fiberline manufacturing process and work environment, though Fiberline is also self-sufficient in green energy from its own wind turbine.
