FCA offers nearly 50 million bushels of grain handling capacity throughout our trade territory. FCA handles 32 million bushels of corn and 10.5 million bushels of soybeans. Since 2004, FCA has switched from an export driven grain market to a local demand market. Before the ethanol industry emerged in northwest Iowa, 95% of FCA's grain was shipped out of the area by rail. Since 2008, a majority of our corn is sent to ethanol plants. In fact, we do business with seven ethanol plants in the area. FCA's feed mills use about 6 million bushels of corn annually to produce feed for turkeys, beef cattle, and hogs.
