Fleet Factors

It was November 1975 when Fleet Factors made its first sales visit to the Teesside repair depot of BP and we got our first order! The Shell depot was next door but it took us several weeks before they started to buy from us. With ICI, Preston's of Potto, British Steel and other local businesses Fleet Factors was founded and on its way. We were very fortunate to have the support of key suppliers and with a small dedicated staff we quickly grew and consolidated the business in the Teesside area and opportunities came in 1980 to grow the business into Sunderland, 1985 into Tyneside and then in 1990 to Leeds. As a family run business Fleet were always looking for innovative ways of supporting its exceptional service to customers. This approach to business continued with the introduction of custody stock in 1983 to Calor Gas and in 1990 with StoresManagement to blue chip companies and in 1995 a national support service for specialised components to bullion delivery vehicles. The electronic age is now giving Fleet Factors many new opportunities to support customers with electronic data transmission and up loads. Refinish products with DuPont were introduced to the company in 1988 with the focus on customer driven expectations with technical and bodyshop profitability being key aspects of our way to market. Development with component products was started in the North West in 1999 and 4 depots have been added to the business in Scotland during 2003. Fleet Factors are founder members of UPD www.upd.co.uk and ICD www.independentcd.co.uk. They are bodies incorporating other independent distributors across the UK so that national group deals can be offered to fleets and franchise dealers ensuring national benefits coupled with local family business service and support. Fleet now have 256 employees and over 21 depots with an additional 16 service points. It is important that people let their skills and personalities reflect the shape of the business they are in and we are fortunate to have key staff that have given many years service to their customers through Fleet Factors. The existing management and staff are dedicated to the company and it is their passion and commitment that enables their teams to produce a secure, pleasurable and successful future.
