Focus has been a registered school since 1992 and accredited in 2000. Accredited means quality control for you, our students. It means: strict standards for curriculum strict standards for the college strict standards for the teachers, and consumer protection your tuition is insured. It ensures that all training is relevant, up to date, accepted in the industry and, if applicable, recognized by the governing body. PCTIA is the governing body for private schools in B.C. and it ensures that we deliver what we promise. Their website is www.pctia.bc.ca. Focus College has policies in place to ensure you know what to expect and to ensure your satisfaction and a successful outcome for your studies here. The Admission Policy covers the manner in which you were informed about the program and its entrance requirements. During the intake interview we ensured that you met all the entrance requirements and we discussed any questions you might have about the College and the Program. Hopefully we answered all your questions, but rest assured, we will always be available for any questions you might have. The Dismissal/Withdrawal Policy outlines the College's expectations and the circumstances which would require a student's dismissal or withdrawal from a program. The Dispute Resolution/Grade Appeal Policy outlines the formal process to be followed in case of a disagreement between the College and the Student. Students may rely in the Grade Appeal Policy in the event they do not agree with a grade for a final exam. Students are always encouraged to immediately advise the College of any concerns they might have prior to lodging a formal complaint. We are proud to report that in the 20 years Focus College has been in business, we have never had to resort to written complaints. It is our approach to listen to students at all times, so small problems do not become big ones, and they can be addressed immediately. The Refund Policy outlines the amount of tuition refund in the event of withdrawal or dismissal from the course. Please note that any withdrawals should be in writing. The Privacy Policy assures students that their personal information will be protected. We will not provide anyone with information about you without your prior approval. But policies are useless unless you have a philosophy as well - a Purpose to follow. Purpose is something that governs what we feel about our students, their progress and their experience at the College.
