Foods of New York Tours was established in 1999 to help visitors and local residents find the ultimate food and cultural experience "off the beaten path. We began our research over 20 years ago while enjoying the delicious ethnic foods and diverse musical venues that existed within Greenwich Village and SoHo. We came into the NYC from NJ and strolled through these very neighborhoods searching for interesting foods and unique experiences that were not common to us. It began with the first bite of thin crust pizza from Joe's, then a Turkish donor kebab with crispy slices of meat stuffed into a grilled pita bread from Yatagan, and for dessert a fresh filled cannoli from Rocco's. Need I say more! After this amazing food experience we continued to walk the sidewalks of the Village to see what else we could find. Before we knew it we were entering a small subterranean music venue where we listened to an elderly man play a sitar (a classic Indian musical instrument). From that moment on we knew that New York City was our kind of place! That experience and many others inspired us to create New York's finest food tasting and cultural walking tours that are now given in some of the most historic and beautiful areas of the City. Foods of New York Tours offers fun and delicious walking, food tasting, and discovery tours to people from around the world. We highlight "off the beaten path" mom and pop establishments that locals frequent and incorporate unique and delicious food tastings. Besides the great food, all attendees learn the history, culture, architecture, and entertainment offerings of a specific neighborhood. Our goal at Foods of New York Tours is for everyone to return to these neighborhoods with confidence and take advantage of the wide range of food and cultural options that they offer.
