Fortis Clinique Darné is one of the oldest and most modern hospitals in Mauritius. Established in April 1953 by Dr. François Darné, "Clinique Darné" was rechristened Fortis Clinique Darné in January 2009. This came about when Fortis Healthcare Limited, one of India's largest healthcare providers, joined hands with a diversified Mauritian Industrial Group, CIEL, to jointly acquire a controlling stake in this hospital. This makes Fortis Clinique Darné the largest private hospital on the Island. The legal entity behind Fortis Clinique Darné is "The Medical and Surgical Centre Limited". Our hospital continues to uphold the tradition of providing personal and dedicated care coupled with state-of-the-art medical technology, in a caring and friendly environment. Currently, more than 150 doctors across various specialties and over 600 employees work together to manage over 12,000 admissions and 25,000 emergency cases in a year. As at date, Fortis Clinique Darné has an infrastructure comprising of: • 112 beds, • Fully equipped Operating Theatres, • Cardiac Catheterisation Lab, • 13-bedded Critical Care Unit, • 2-bedded Isolation Intensive Care Unit, • 15 day care beds besides a host of other world-class facilities. Fortis Clinique Darné has a vast pool of talented and experienced doctors who are further supported by a team of highly qualified, experienced, dedicated support staff. The latter evolve in an environment where cutting edge technology is the name of the game. With a proven track record of procedures performed in the last decade alone, the hospital offers medical and paramedical services across over 30 specialties, all under one roof. In line with its expansion plans and to ensure that quality healthcare is made accessible to everyone, the hospital opened an outpatient medical facility - Fortis Clinique Darné North [also known as FCD North]. Located at Grand Bay La Croisette, the Centre, which operates a 24/7 Emergency Department backed by an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Ambulance (ACLS), offers a wide range of services in primary healthcare.
