Freshwater Land Trust
Founded in 1996, the Freshwater Land Trust works to preserve the places that matter to our community through land conservation with a focus on properties that enhance water quality and open space. The Freshwater Land Trust owns and manages over 5,000 acres of land and through partnerships has helped preserve over 11,000 acres. In addition to its effort to protect major river watersheds throughout Central Alabama, the Freshwater Land Trust leads trail and greenway projects in the Birmingham metro area, including Red Mountain Park, the Village Creek Greenway, and the Turkey Creek Nature Preserve.
