Farm Service Cooperative provides supplies and services for the economic benefit of its members and their cooperative. It operates through four divisions: Agronomy, Feed and Grain, Energy, and Computers. Its Agronomy division provides services, such as grid sampling for variable rate application, soil sampling, advanced field mapping and individual yield recommendations, custom fertilizer application using latest site-specific technologies, field scouting, custom aerial applications, and field-by-field seed recommendations; and fertilizer products, such as granular and liquid fertilizers, anhydrous ammonia, micronutrients, and aglime or calcium sulfate. The companys Feed and Grain division offers services, such as best cost and custom diet formulation, feed budgeting and recordkeeping, on-farm technical support, forward contracting for ingredients, risk management advising, feeder pig sourcing, and bulk feed and bagged feed delivery; and mini pellets, pellets for beef operations, base mixes and supplements, cow/calf minerals and cubes, liquid protein and molasses, sheep and swine feed, equine feed, pet food, and feedstuffs. Its Energy division provides energy supplies, such as diesel fuel, propane for homes and farms, home heating fuel, and lubricants. The companys Computers division offers computers, printers, scanners, cameras, and cables and other hardware components; paper, ink, and toners; and maintenance services for servers, printers, desktop computers, switches and routers, and Internet connectivity. It serves farmers, commercial and professional customers, and local consumers in Iowa. The company was formerly known as Shelby County Farm Bureau Service Company and changed its name to Farm Service Cooperative in 1950. Farm Service Cooperative was founded in 1930 and is based in Harlan, Iowa.
