Gaia Labs LLC, Robert's current initiative, is founded on the premise that the traditional angel and venture capital model has performed less than satisfactorily in finding globally scalable solutions to the Grand Challenges facing mankind and the planet, and that do so, requires a broader and deeper understanding of industry verticals and technology applications, but also of design and consciousness. This focus on design, consciousness, venture capital and Integral Theory (http://www.dailyevolver.com/a-primer-on-integral-theory/) leads to Gaia Labs' concept of Integral Venture Capital (IVC) and a different approach and set of tailored investment strategies for the crucial issues of our times - from raising consciousness about climate change, to clean energy solutions, from poverty alleviation to new green urban living and from biodiversity preservation and conservation to post-genomic solutions for healthcare and food. Prior to Gaia Labs, Robert was the concept originator, founding partner and Citi liaison to the Citi-sponsored and Rio de Janeiro-based CVC/Opportunity Equity Partners L.P., (the "CVC Fund") a USD 1.5 billion PE fund (USD 750MM from Citi) focused on Brazil's privatizations. Before the CVC Fund, Robert was VP - Equity Investments for Citi in New York City and responsible for the bank's global debt-to-equity swap program. Prior to Citi, Robert spent four years in New York City government, focused on finance, real estate and economic development. Robert has an undergraduate degree from Stanford and a law degree from Harvard.
