The Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry
GBTI on May 10 made charitable donations to two nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) as part of its corporate responsibility to maintain healthy relations with its neighbours. The Bank donated a large quantity of cloth-material which was left over from previous uniforms- to the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) to aid in the work being done at YWCA's Vocational Training Centre. This venture was done in light of the Bank's Woman of Worth (WOW) Single Parent Loan Facility and its drive to empower women to explore their full potential. GBTI's Customer Care and Business Development Officer Mrs. Roma Narayan-Singh during brief remarks stated that the Bank is always happy to support the work of women and also recognized the integral role that YWCA plays in improving the livelihood of women. YWCA's General Secretary Ms. Gertrude Scott expressed sincere gratitude to GBTI for its generosity and ensured that the material will be put to good use. The YWCA Vocational Training Centre is a school for young women to enhance their skills in dressmaking and other activities. GBTI then made its way over to the Salvation Army Men's Rehabilitation Centre in Kingston to donate a quantity of dress shirts (also leftover from past uniforms) to the recovering drug addicts there. Mr. Steve Sookraj the Counselor who received the gift on behalf of the Recreational Centre also conveyed sentiments of gratitude to GBTI for the interest it pays to the less fortunate in society.
