Genazzano FCJ College
We offer each of our graduating Year 12 students our very best wishes and every blessing for the future. On Wednesday morning, as our Year 12 students presented for the first exam, the English paper, a large group of parents and staff gathered for the traditional Eucharist in the College Chapel. Father Peter Malone MSC led us in the celebration of the Eucharist and spoke beautifully to us of the graced relationship that we have with our daughters and students. We have enjoyed several farewell celebrations these past weeks, in which we have acknowledged all students for the contributions each has made to the College, and offer deep appreciation to all parents who are drawing to the end of their association with us. Appreciation and sincere thanks are extended to Lila McInerney, Cathy Jenkins and their teams for the Valedictory Eucharist that was held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Deepdene last week, followed by the Awards Ceremony in Centenary Hall. In Father Brendan Reed's absence, we were most fortunate to have Father Michael Twigg, OMI, Principal of Mazenod College and good friend of Genazzano, present with us to celebrate our Valedictory Eucharist. Sincere appreciation is extended to Sue Whelan for all that she has accomplished for our students and staff in her role as VCE Coordinator, ensuring that the complex rules and regulations that are an essential part of the VCE curriculum and assessment system have been adhered to and that the exam process runs smoothly. I acknowledge with gratitude the donors of the special prizes awarded to students during the Valedictory Ceremony. These generous donations enable us to acknowledge the wide range of gifts, talents and hard work so many Year 11 and Year 12 students display. We all know the importance of competent, qualified and motivated teachers in education, and this week it is fitting that we celebrate International Teachers Day. I am grateful to all staff engaged in the privileged role of educator at Genazzano and give thanks for their care of, and commitment to, our students. As we draw ever closer to the end of another school year, we hold all our students in our hearts and prayers.
