Geneius was founded in 2007 at Newcastle University by Professor Jerry Barnes and a team of senior microbiologists. The cornerstone and differentiation of the business remains the ability to utilise and develop DNA technology to identify and investigate micro-organisms in foodstuffs with the highest level of reliability and accuracy. The Company has become one of Northern England's high tech success stories employing more than 50 people. We continue to develop our own unique DNA-based testing methods, which ensure we stay at the forefront of investigative microbiology and bespoke problem solving.
