GEORGIA WEST IMAGING
The practice was started by Dr. Edwin Grant, MD, in 1964, to serve Tanner Memorial Hospital (Tanner) in Carrollton, Georgia. At that time, the Tanner radiology department consisted of a single x-ray machine, four employees and one trainee. Dr. Grant incorporated his practice in 1970 as the Carrollton Radiological Group. As Carroll County's population grew and new technologies were developed, Tanner began to acquire hospitals and clinics in the surrounding area and became Tanner Health System. Growing along with Tanner, the radiology department expanded its services and Carrollton Radiology Group hired additional radiologists to meet the increased demand. Radiology services now included X-ray, MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and Women's Imaging. In 1999, Carrollton Radiological Group changed its name to Georgia West Imaging (GWI) to reflect its expanded service area, and continued adding radiologists to the practice. GWI now has nine American Board of Radiology certified radiologists. GWI radiologists have subspecialty training covering Body Imaging, MR, Musculoskeletal, Nuclear Medicine, and Neuroradiology, and provide a range of radiological services to large health systems, small hospitals, and imaging centers, as well as to physician practices. As a way to extend state-of-the-art readings to an even wider range of health care providers, GWI now offers teleradiology services in addition to traditional hospital-based services. Picture
