National Grid Grain LNG

National Grid Grain LNG

We have operated the LNG site on the Isle of Grain for over 30 years and we are passionate about safety. National Grid invests billions of pounds in the nation's energy infrastructure, the pipes and wires, that keep the heat flowing and the lights on. However, it is not just what we are doing that matters, but how we behave while doing the work, is really important to us. Throughout our work, and through careful planning and preparation, we ensure that we minimise the impact on our neighbours and this includes keeping in contact with them and their representatives. We have also briefed everyone working for National Grid on the Isle of Grain on community consideration. Our community engagement team at Grain LNG has been busy within the local community, who we value as our neighbours. We are working with local schools and charitable organisations to enhance lives and promote the skills of our future generation of engineers. We have supported the local community with a number of volunteering and fundraising events. In a typical year 60 employees will be involved in community volunteering events and last year the teams delivered a safe and accessible garden with wooden furniture and raised flower beds at Allhallows Primary School, a kitchen garden with three raised beds at Demelza House Children's hospice and revamped Stoke Village Hall. Our employees are dedicated to fund-raising and we raise around £20,000 annually for charitable causes. Education is equally important to us and we are helping to develop the engineers of the future through our work with local schools and by being a partner in the Medway Education Business Partnership (MEBP). Our goal is to continue to be good neighbours by being open and constructive in the conversations we have with all of our stakeholder and by playing our part in supporting the local community.
