Graphilm was founded in Rome in 1989 by Maurizio Forestieri as a production studio for animated products such as TV series, feature films, video clips, and commercials. Graphilm soon stood out for its professionalism and the exceptionally high quality of its products. Graphilm's productions have been selected and entered in competitions twice at the Festival de Cannes, and once at the Berlinale. One of the studio's short animation films was chosen to represent Italian animation in an official projection at New York's MoMA. In over twenty years of activity, Graphilm has won both national and international prizes and acknowledgments in the animation sector's most important official events, from Cartoons on the Bay to Castelli Animati and the Festival d'Annecy. Last but not least, the studio won the 2008 award for best direction of a TV animation series, received at Cartoons on the Bay. The know-how connected to animation, along with extensive cinematographic experience, makes Graphilm one of the most all-round and professionally advanced studios in the sector, able to create the right mix of art and industry, cartoon tradition and new technologies (Web environments and CGI). As a result of these qualities, Graphilm boasts a substantial number of collaborations with important Italian and overseas productions (including Rai, Medusa, Ferrero Magic Production Group, Xilam-France, Canal +, and Ellipsanime). In 2007 Graphilm was strengthened and expanded with greater articulation and organization of the company structure, both in terms of investment and professional attributes. As well as directing the executive production of SpiKE TEAM, a 26 x 26' animated series (Lucky Dreams-Rai Fiction) with a budget of 6 million euros, Graphilm is also currently focused on increasing the productive development of properties, supported by a portfolio of projects for TV series launched in co-production with Rai Fiction and by the theatrical feature film currently in preproduction. Finally, the striking creative inclination organized in Graphilm's production activities has contributed to the studio's extensive know-how in the field of preproduction: from storyboards (of exceptionally high quality) to artistic direction and production.
