Greenane Farms

Greenane Farms

Greenane -- is a Gaelic word which means high, sunny sanctuary; and Greenane Farms is just that. The farm is a 250 acre sanctuary located high in the Catskill Mountains less than 3 hours from Manhattan in New York City. We are a family farm practicing sustainable agriculture, owned and operated by Patrick and Thanya Rider. Greenane Farms represents a lifetime of investment, hard work and dedication. The farm opened at the home farm and Angus Breeding center in Meredith, New York in 2003. In 2010 we expanded through the purchase of a second farm in the historic hamlet of Meridale, nearly adjacent to the home farm which now is home to the Garden Center, Farm Store, and Berry Orchards. Today we continue to operate from these locations and lease hundreds of additional acres throughout our area. Since our humble beginnings we have practiced sustainable and natural agriculture and we continue doing so today. Our registered Angus cattle & poultry are pasture raised in the open fields of natural Catskill grasses, our berries and crops are also naturally grown. Greenane works closely with the Watershed Agricultural Council to protect our water and the water we send to New York City and we strive to care for our environment in every way we can.
