Grey & Grey
Grey & Grey, LLP is a law firm that represents workers who are injured on or off the job. The firm handles claims for workers' compensation, Social Security Disability, disability retirement, and personal injury. In addition to representing individual workers, Grey & Grey provides training for union leadership, shop stewards, and members about their rights in cases of on-the-job and off-the job injury, as well as advice on contract and grievance issues that affect members who are injured on the job. The Grey family has been associated with the Workers' Compensation Law almost from its beginning in 1914. In 1930, during the Great Depression, Arthur Grey went to work for the New York State Workers' Compensation Board, where he would remain for forty-one years. While working for the Board, Arthur went to law school at night. As a lawyer, he was promoted to a position in the Board's Office of General Counsel, and eventually he became a Workers' Compensation Law Judge. In 1967 Arthur's son, David Grey, opened the Law Office of David P. Grey in Farmingdale, New York to represent injured and disabled workers. David's practice began to grow as satisfied clients began to recommend their friends, family and co-workers. After four years, the firm needed a second attorney. Arthur Grey retired from the Workers' Compensation Board to become partners with David - and Grey & Grey was born. Although Arthur Grey retired from the firm in 1980, David's son Robert Grey joined the firm in 1990, becoming the third generation of the family to practice law in this field. Since 1990, the firm has opened its personal injury and Social Security Disability departments, relocated its main office to a renovated building in Farmingdale and opened additional offices in Manhattan, Queens, Suffolk County, Bronx and White Plains. The firm has grown from its one-attorney beginning, now employing sixteen attorneys and a total population of almost forty employees, all dedicated to representing injured and disabled workers. Robert Grey has been the firm's managing partner since 2008, when David Grey retired after forty years of practice. In addition to offering superior legal representation, Grey & Grey has been widely recognized as a leader in its practice areas. The firm's attorneys lead political action committees that advocate for the interests of injured workers, serve on government task forces, provide technical assistance, education and representation to unions, and serve on the boards of non-profit organizations that protect and educate workers. In recognition of the firm's knowledge, experience, and leadership, its lawyers are routinely asked to give continuing legal education lectures to other lawyers throughout the state. When unions recommend their members to Grey & Grey, and when members recommend their friends, family, and co-workers, they do so with confidence, knowing that the firm is dedicated to making sure its clients receive the full benefits to which they are entitled.
