HACA also manages the Housing Choice Voucher/Section 8 Program that provides rent vouchers and certificates for more than 5,000 units of housing in Austin's private rental market. HACA pays a portion of the rent directly to the landlord. This program allows residents to choose the place in which they want to live. NOTE THAT THE HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM (SECTION 8) WAIT LIST IS CURRENTLY CLOSED. The 2009 Annual Plan and 2005-2009 Revised Five-Year Plan were approved by The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and are available for review at the Central Office or any Public Housing Management Office. You may also review the plans here.
