Started as Hammer School in 1923 by Wayzata resident Alvina Hammer who believed everyone had the right to a loving home and the opportunity to experience life to its fullest. Today, Hammer has grown to helping more than 1,400 people through group home and apartment programs and customized support services throughout 10 west metro suburbs. Named Star Tribune's Top Place to Work five years in a row - one of only 14 organizations statewide.
