Harington School
Harington School provides a rigorous academic A Level education (focusing on Mathematics, English, History, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Modern Foreign Languages) with the specific aim of preparing students for top universities. There are 300 places available in total, allowing for an intake of 150 in each year. Places are offered to those who meet the usual admissions criteria of 5 GCSEs at grade B or above. As a school with high academic aspirations, candidates must achieve a GCSE grade A*-C in both Mathematics and English. There is an expectation that students will have achieved an A*-B grade in the subject (or comparable subject) that they wish to take at A-level. Where is Harington School? Harington School is currently housed in temporary accommodation on the Catmose College campus in Oakham, Rutland. Its permanent building is scheduled for opening in September 2016 on the Catmose campus. How is Harington School run & funded? Harington School is run by a Trust. The School operates independently of its sponsors. The Trust consists of trustees from each of the sponsors: the Catmose Federation, Oakham School and Uppingham Community College. This trust is responsible for appointments, staffing, finance and resources. Harington School has a Local Governing Body with responsibility for the curriculum, student management, behaviour and standards. This Governing Body was set up to include the Head of Harington School, six governors appointed by the Trust, one member of staff, one governor appointed by Leicester University and two parents of Harington School students.
