Harrisons Ford Centre
1929 - Due to the growth of the now thriving business he moved to larger premises in Devon Place near Haymarket, where we remained until our move to Peebles. 1945 - Aged 60 David Harrison Snr passed away leaving David Jnr to take over the business at only 29 years of age. David Jnr grew the business over the next 25 years adding several new car franchises. These included Jaguar, Daimler, Austin, Morris, MG, Wolseley, Land Rover, Rover, Triumph Rootes, Chrysler and Armstrong Siddeley. Thinking back we were probably one of Scotland's first multi franchise dealers! 1948 - By now the business represented the entire British Leyland franchise and expanded by adding a new showroom in Haymarket Terrace. 1973 - Following the completion of his apprenticeship with Rossleigh of Edinburgh, Robert Harrison joined his father and they worked together through the tough economic climate of the mid 1970s. 1976 - Due to the decline of the British Leyland business we decided to enter into an agreement with Ford Motor Company, closed our Edinburgh business and purchased Crossburn Garage in Peebles. 1988 - We embarked on rebuilding the garage into what you now see when you visit us in Peebles. This allows us to offer a full range of services to our customers. These now include a bright and spacious showroom, Used Car forecourt and state of the art aftersales facilities. 2015 - We celebrated our 90th birthday. 2018 - After 45 years of working in the business Robert Harrison decided to retire and sold the business to the Short family, owners of Dalkeith and Cupar Ford Centres. We look forward to welcoming you to Harrisons Ford Centre for many more years to come. What we are about
