Hastings Girls' High School

Hastings Girls' High School offers a balanced curriculum which not only builds on the skills gained in Year 8 but which also promotes a range of exciting subject opportunities. Our school is large enough to offer a wide range of options. Naturally our programmes are tailored to meet the unique interests and learning needs of girls. Traditional academic subjects are given a high priority, as these are the foundations on which girls build for successful study in the senior school. Students are strongly encouraged to enter regional and national subject competitions and examinations and we are proud of their achievements. Setting high standards encourages girls to aim for excellence. Option subjects are frequently reviewed taking into account changing social, economic or Ministry imperatives. Senior international languages are an important priority of ours which are augmented by a successful exchange programme. Diagnostic assessment and continual monitoring allows us to place girls where they can be challenged to reach their full potential and provided with the necessary support to get there.
