Hawthorn Creative is a full-service brand and content marketing firm dedicated to the event and hospitality industry. Our dynamic team of designers, content writers, and sales representatives is passionate about merging powerful aesthetics and engaging content to produce campaigns that drive results. We are seeking a full-time in-house experienced magazine designer for our national custom hotel and ski magazines. This person will be responsible for providing art direction and design for magazine page layouts, incorporating type, photos, and illustration in an aesthetic and communicative style that supports the publication's overall editorial direction. What you will be doing: Create on-brand and on-trend magazine layouts for the hospitality and ski industries Designing marketing collateral for various clientele Photo research and photo sourcing for use in magazines Potential digital design work for the right candidate Work independently with oversight and mentorship from our creative manager What you need for this position: At least 3 to 5 years magazine design experience A bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field Strong portfolio designing magazine layouts (feature story design preferred) Strong conceptual thinker with great attention to detail Exceptional typographical and layout skills Ability to take criticism professionally and incorporate the ideas of others into the design Expert-level skills in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator Strong organizational skills and extremely clean file setup Ability to work collaboratively and meet aggressive deadlines Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients Ability to work in our Portsmouth office Top reasons to work with us: Industry leader known for powerful aesthetics, beautiful design, and compelling content within the hospitality, event, and tourism industry Entrepreneurial company with dynamic work environment where creativity and accomplishment is encouraged You will work with the leading designers in the wedding and hospitality industry Learn about the Hawthorn difference at www.hawthorncreative.com Compensation is base salary plus annual bonus potential.
