Highlands Center
Created in 2001, Highlands Center, Inc. (HCI) was selected by the National Park Service (NPS) to be its Fundraising and Management Partner for the Highlands Center in 2003. HCI and the Cape Cod National Seashore are working cooperatively in the redevelopment of the site, performing physical and business analysis as agreed upon while identifying additional Program Partners. Since becoming partners with NPS, HCI has made critical progress in its research phase which includes a fundraising feasibility study. The result of this phase is an Implementation Plan - a road map for achieving the complete redevelopment of the Highlands Center. With this plan in hand, prepared by ICON Architecture, Inc., HCI is ready to move forward with renovations, fundraising, and marketing. HCI has a five year commitment to raise $3.5 million to restore four to five buildings, one of which will serve as the site welcome center. The goal is to create a campus that encompasses the fields of art, education, and science. As part of a commitment to creating a sustainable community, principles of green building design will be incorporated to the greatest extent possible.
