Health-aid is starting a microcredit project whose aim is to improve the quality of life of the Saboba-Chereponi people. The idea is to implement a programme that grants loans with favourable credit conditions to small agricultural and commercial enterprises, in particular to women entrepreneurs. These women, usually, cannot meet even the most minimal qualifications to gain access to traditional credit. In this way the people will be given the possibility to get self-support by autonomous and productive activities. Instead of passively benefiting the donations, the people will be the moving spirit of their own future, generating development for themselves and for all the members of the community. A percentage of the profits, gained with the financed activities, will be set aside to refund the loan; whereas the funds left will be available to develop new local initiatives. In other words the resources raised with the donations will build up a small capital that won't fall, on the contrary it will be used several times by different people. In the mid-term our purpose is to make the microcredit project a self-sustainable activity. The success of theGrameen Bank by Yunus (Nobel peace prize for 2006) and similar experiences encourage us to pursue this aim.
