Heritage Suites Hotel

Here at Heritage Suites Hotel, we believe in supporting the community. We are dedicated to giving back in a multitude of different ways, and we have partnered with numerous social and environmental-focused organizations in Cambodia to support this amazing country and its people. We are proud partners of Sala Baï Hotel & Restaurant School, an organization dedicated to empowering young Cambodians from underserved backgrounds to build successful hospitality careers. We have hired many Sala Baï graduates over the years, and we are honored to help these inspiring young men and women build successful futures for themselves and their families. Each one of our 26 Suites and Classic Rooms is thoughtfully furnished with locally-made pieces. The ergonomic sofas and lamps in the hotel's rooms and suites, were custom designed by Danish designer Jacob Thrane, and locally made by Cambodian artisans, whom he trained personally. The floors of every guest room & suite at Heritage Suites Hotel are decorated with round mats woven from water hyacinth, an invasive aquatic plant from South America. This plant is a major threat to the balance of the ecosystem at Tonle Sap Lake, a wetland of international importance for biodiversity conservation. The harvesting and upcycling of these plants is ushering in a revival of traditional handicrafts, and OSMOSE provides women from poor families with training in these crafts so that they may produce and sell handcrafted water hyacinth products such as floor mats, fans, hats, baskets, sandals and cushions - thus providing them with a significant source of household revenue from the project while addressing a crucial environmental issue at Tonle Sap Lake. The quirky and intricate art that adorns the walls of Heritage Suites Hotel was produced by Theam's House, an organization that creates modern pieces inspired by Cambodia's traditional artistic heritage and provides young artisans with training and jobs that allow them to put their talent to practice. Our Classic Rooms feature beautiful lacquerware accents produced locally by Cambolac, another social enterprise dedicated to alleviating poverty by training and hiring disadvantaged young adults and the hearing impaired. The on-site Heritage Boutique carries a range of gifts produced by the above artisans, as well as many other socially-conscious organizations. We're always looking for ways in which we can decrease our environmental impact, and we've partnered with several local organizations to help us "green" our business.
