Hughes Group Architects

Hughes Group Architects provides comprehensive architectural/engineering services for miscellaneous school construction projects under a Term Contract with Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS). Services are provided "as needed" for projects that may be located anywhere in Alexandria, Virginia. Under this contract, the project fee of any single project shall not exceed $1 million, and the sum of all projects per contract term shall not exceed $5 million. To date, Hughes Group has been awarded the following tasks: All 17 ACPS Schools - School Sites and Building Interiors Existing Conditions Survey The ACPS system includes 12 elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools. This project surveys the existing site and interior building conditions at each school. The site portion of the survey will update the site plan and evaluate site conditions such as accessibility, traffic, pavement, stormwater management, natural features and compliance with current regulations. The building portion of the survey will update floor plans and document the existing use of each space. Hughes Group will prepare a package for each room that contains room dimensions; an evaluation of finishes, lighting and equipment contributing to the general quality of each room; and photos of all floors, walls and ceilings. Rather than a standard written report, a customized Revit model will be created for each school and site where, for example, the compiled data for a classroom can be accessed by clicking on the classroom in the floorplan.
