HL Plastics

HL Plastics Ltd designs and manufactures PVCu extrusions at its state-of-the-art factory and mixing plant in Denby. HLP is a company which has seen substantial growth in the UK manufacturing sector in spite of the recent recession - in no small part due to the launch of the Liniar range of lead-free PVCu windows, doors and conservatories in 2008. Operating in the heart of Derbyshire, HLP celebrated its 40th birthday in 2014. Entrepreneur Roger Hartshorn commenced his career on the shop floor at HL Plastics and is now Managing Director. The Liniar brand's creator, Roger was voted number 3 in the Window Industries' Top 30 Most Influential list in 2013, and features in The Manufacturer 2014 Top 100 influential individuals in UK manufacturing. The Flamstead Group of companies, which owns HL Plastics and the Liniar brand, has been included in the prestigious London Stock Exchange's first two editions of their book "1000 Companies to Inspire Britain", and was acquired by US corporation Quanex Building Products in June 2015. HL Plastics also won the Growing Business of the Year 2014 award for mid-sized companies at the esteemed GBA national business awards in November 2014. The factory played host to PM David Cameron in May 2014, who held a Q&A session with 150 staff and praised the team for its innovation and growth (watch the video at http://www.liniar.co.uk/videos/the-prime-minister-visits-hl-plastics/). In addition, HL Plastics was selected by BBC News to take part in the main story of the day on 27th July 2015, in a report about an increase in the UK's quarterly GDP results and the success driven by manufacturing firms now the recession is over. With over 400 jobs created in the Derbyshire area (500 across the Flamstead Group), the company continues to grow and add to the local economy.
