The HRS professional staff has led the way in the reimbursement industry to ensure Medicare Administrator Contractors (MACs), previously called Fiscal Intermediaries (FIs), properly and accurately apply the Medicare regulations. These efforts have included group appeals involving the Medicare Mandamus Global Settlement (Medicare Litigation) for DSH, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) challenges, and eligible and paid day counts. To date, this business unit has successfully processed over 600 DSH packages with a value of $650 million in DSH reimbursement for over 350 hospitals in 28 states. HRS offers an exceptionally quick turnaround time: 30-45 days from the initial download receipt. We have maintained extremely high audit and approval ratings with the MACs: 98% Nationwide and 99% in California. Our DSH reopenings produce hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional client revenue. The HRS Medicare Crossover Bad Debt service line has been similarly successful, allowing for the capture of all entitled crossover bad debts in the hospital Cost Reports, receiving excellent approval ratings from the MACs, and generating significant reimbursement increases for our clients.
